Pedro believes Chelsea would suffer a huge loss if Diego Costa left Stamford Bridge this summer, and admitted he is looking forward to starting next season afresh under incoming Blues manager Antonio Conte.
Pedro talked up the importance of Costa while preparing for the European Championships with Spain, who chose not to take the Chelsea striker to the tournament in France following concerns over the 27-year-old's fitness.
After playing a key role in Chelsea winning the Premier League title in 2015, Costa suffered a dip in form in the first half of the 2015/16 campaign under then-manager Jose Mourinho.
However, he managed to recover his form following the arrival of Guus Hiddink at the Bridge, and ended last season with 12 Premier League goals to his name - resulting in Costa being linked with a move back to his former side Atletico Madrid, although it did not earn him a place in the Spain squad for Euro 2016.
While Los Rojiblancos have made no secret of their desire to have the Brazilian-born Spain striker back at the Vicente Calderon, Pedro admitted he hopes Costa will not leave Chelsea this summer - saying his departure would be a "big loss" for the club.
Speaking to Spanish publication El Mundo Deportivo, Pedro said: "We do not know what will happen, but he would be a very big loss for us.
"We want him to stay and we will see what happens with him."
Commenting on his debut campaign in England and the impending arrival of Conte to Chelsea, Pedro added: "It was a strange season, a difficult situation. I was playing well, I scored, then everything took a negative turn.
"For me it was not easy with a different language and different culture. My teammates helped me and the fans encouraged me.
"Next year we want to return Chelsea to where it belongs. With Conte we will start from scratch."
